Introduction to the QLG Drills

Understanding the system is the first step.

But to perform consistently on the course, the ideas must become automatic.

The purpose of the drills in this Master Class is to programme your subconscious mind with the principles you have just learned.

Through repetition and structured practice, the Three Universal Laws — together with your control of line and pace — begin to feel natural.

Over time, the correct movements, decisions and judgements happen instinctively.

You no longer need to think about every detail.

You simply read the putt, feel the pace, and execute the stroke.

That is when putting becomes truly effective.

Quality Over Quantity

Practice does require repetition, but it is not about hitting hundreds of random putts.

It is about quality practice with a clear purpose.

Every putt you hit should have intention behind it.

Every drill should be working toward a specific outcome.

When practice is structured in this way, improvement happens far more quickly.

Nothing is wasted.

Every minute contributes to your development as a putter.

Practice in Short, Focused Sessions

Another important principle is to practise in short, focused sessions.

A typical session should last around 20–30 minutes.

After that, take a short break of 10–15 minutes.

Walk around, drink some water, eat something light, and allow both your body and mind to reset.

Long, unfocused practice sessions often lead to fatigue and declining concentration.

Shorter sessions allow you to maintain a much higher level of attention and quality.

During your breaks, reflect on what you are learning and how the system is working.

This keeps your mind fresh and your practice productive.

Drill Setup & Measurement (Accuracy Matters)

The following drills form the foundation of the QLG Putting Training System.

Together, they develop the essential skills required for world-class putting.

Each drill focuses on a specific element of performance:

• distance control
• confidence from key scoring ranges
• the ability to combine line and pace

Before you begin, one principle is critical:

Accuracy matters.

Your training is only as reliable as your setup.

For this reason, we strongly recommend carrying a 15-foot or 30-foot tape measure in your golf bag.

This allows you to set your drill distances precisely at:

• 3 feet
• 6 feet
• 9 feet

The closer your practice conditions match these exact distances, the more consistent and transferable your results will be on the course.

Used together, these drills allow you to practise on any putting green, anywhere in the world — and systematically develop the skills required to perform at an elite level.

9. The 6-Foot Circle Drill

The second circle drill is performed from six feet.

This distance represents one of the most important scoring ranges in golf.

Many birdie opportunities and pressure putts occur from this distance, making it a critical range for developing confidence and consistency.

In this demonstration, Irene is approximately one month into her Master Class.

At this stage, her putting has reached a world-class level.

Here she successfully holes 80% of these challenging six-foot putts.

This level of performance reflects excellent control of both line and pace, combined with a stroke that consistently obeys the Three Universal Laws of Putting.

With structured practice, this is the standard every golfer should aim to approach from six feet.

Training Toward Your Target Numbers

These drills are not random exercises.

They are designed to move you steadily toward the world-class benchmarks we defined earlier in this Master Class.

Your objective is simple:

Practise the drills until your performance consistently reaches the target numbers.

When you achieve those numbers in practice, something powerful happens.

You know your putting is ready.

Ready to perform.
Ready to compete.
And ready to produce world-class results on any course you play.

What Comes Next

Developing great putting skill is only part of the equation.

To truly lower your scores, those skills must be combined with intelligent decision-making on the course.

In the next section, we will explore the strategic side of putting and examine how world-class players think about pin positions, green slopes and scoring opportunities.

This is where skill and strategy come together.

Welcome to Putting Strategy.
